I would like to introduce myself and tell you a little bit about me. This year is my 9th and a 1/2 year as a teacher. I graduated from The University of West Georgia in the fall of 2005. I began my career in education straight out of college in the middle of the year as a Kindergarten teacher in the county school system. I taught Kindergarten for half of a year and then transferred to Calhoun Primary School where I have been teaching first grade for 8 years. I am an alumna of Calhoun City Schools. I was born and raised in Calhoun and graduated from Calhoun High School in 2001.
My husband, Brandon, and I live in Calhoun with our little girl Keylee Noe Williams and little boy Kason Brantlee Williams. Our daughter is 5 years old and our son is a 1 year old. They are the light of our lives. We love Calhoun because it has a great family atmosphere and we feel that it is the best community in which to raise our children. We feel that Calhoun City Schools is a fantastic school system and we are honored to have Keylee beginning Kindergarten this year. I am so excited that she will be at my school. I love spending time with my family and friends. I enjoy teaching children, reading, decorating, organizing, artsy projects, sports, and much more.
I look forward to getting to know your child and your family. We are going to have a WONDERFUL year. Thank you for sharing your child with me.
The beginning of a new school year is such an exciting time! I look forward to working with your child this year. First grade is such a special year for the children and their parents as well as very challenging and a big transition for the former kindergarten students. In first grade, we teach units based on the Common Core Georgia Performance Standards. In first grade, we will continue team teaching Reading, English/Language Arts, and Math this year. My team mate is Mrs. Boston. We will both be teaching Reading, Mrs. Boston will be teaching English/Language Arts, and I will teach Math/Number Corner.
English Language Arts: Our ELA units are based on Common Core Georgia Performance Standards to focus on different genres with grammar and writing embedded.
Math: Students will participate in a variety of Math Units. These units target our Common Core Georgia Performance Standards while incorporating Math Workshop, centers, and number corner.
Flex Reading: We have flex reading groups daily that target your child’s individual reading needs.
I strive to instill a love of learning in my students that will last throughout their life. If you ever have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me at the school by calling (706) 629-8323 or drop me a note. Together, we will make this one of your child’s best years in school.
